Unique Center Parcs
Retreat Experience

A few weeks ago, I had an opportunity to experience a long weekend at Center Parcs in Woburn Forest, Bedfordshire, UK.

They have 5 locations in the UK, all nestled in beautiful and secluded woodland. Escape to one of their luxury Lodges, and choose from up to 200 indoor and outdoor activities, make a splash in their world-famous Subtropical Swimming Paradise, and dine in a range of restaurants.

For us, it was a 4 day boys only break, that was arranged and paid for by my older brother... thanks Terry :)

When I say boys, there were 7 of us aged between 30-75 years. We were staying in a luxury 4 bedroom detached lodge that included: games/tv room, jacuzzi/hot tub, steam room, sauna, barbeque.

Plus the lodge backed onto acres of unspoilt forest.

Terry had arranged several events for us all to get involved with... swimming, ten pin bowling, table tennis, adventure golf. We had good food, good company, had a great laugh, and a few beers :)

Although the weekend was to encourage male bonding, which was great, I also took the opportunity to work on mind-body-spirit cleansing.

Every morning, in the forest I performed my regular 45 minute daily exercise routine. As I was in the heart of Woburn Forest, it was greatly enhanced, invigorating, and even more beneficial than usual.

Every day, after my routine, I enjoyed the hot tub, sauna and steam room to help remove toxins and release tension. This was followed by a hearty breakfast of muesli and fruit juice... a great start to each day.

During each day, I focused more on breathing deeply, and releasing mental and emotion concerns as they popped up in my consciousness.

What does my daily 45 minute routine include?

1 - Deep breathing, relaxation, shaking, loosening up, and jumping.

2 - joint rotations and light stretching.

3 - five tibetan yoga exercises to balance the chakras.

4 - several aiki exercises from aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei.

5 - waveform power development exercises.

6 - squats, sit-ups, press-ups.

7 - aikido postures, footwork, and movements.

8 - chi kung hugging tree posture.

9 - seated zazen meditation.

10 - chanting of power word.

My Aqua Sana
Relaxation Experience!

The whole weekend was a great experience. Terry even booked a unique 3 hour Aqua Sana for my son Robin and I on the last day.

What a great brother Terry is :)

it combines the best from European spas with new innovations to create their World of Spa: featuring six unique spas for you to journey through a multi-sensory experience.

What did the Aqua Sana include?

There were six different themed spa experiences all uniquely designed with the latest innovations. The focus is on clearing your mind and body of stress and opening up a positive outlook on life.

1 - Fire and Ice

2 - Blossom

3 - Herbal

4 - Sensory

5 - Mineral & Gemstone

6 - Salt

We were able to unwind completely while we took in the beautiful forest views from their outdoor infinity pool. This was a fantastic experience and we enjoyed it immensely. Afterwards we went for a long walk to get me focused for our 3 hour drive home.

This wasn't our first trip to Center Parcs, we have had several family holidays at different forests throughout the UK.

Over the years we have been to Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, Elveden Forest in Suffolk, and Longleat Forest in Wiltshire. And now Robin and I have been to Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire.

There is only one other Center Parcs in the UK, and that is Whinfell Forest in Cumbria. I'm sure we will visit in the next few years.

In fact, we have a family holiday booked to revisit Sherwood forest again in May. We havent been there for over 20 years :)

Reading this newsletter, it might appear that we are always going on holiday, and this is certainly not the case. We usually only take a holiday every 2 or 3 years. This is why these Center Parcs breaks are so important to us. They are expensive but highly recommended!
