Breathing Places.
by Martha Hammond Nov 29, 2006 Positive News Issue 50

‘A Breathing Place is somewhere you can escape the hassles of everyday life and get your hands dirty; where you can listen to birdsong, admire the bluebells in Spring and appreciate the stunning colours in Autumn.

Quite simply, it’s a place where you, your family and friends can rediscover the wonders of nature.’

Over the next three years, the BBC is joining forces with the wildlife charities of the UK to publicise, popularise and rejuvenate wild and public ‘breathing places’ across the country.

The aim is to encourage everyone to get involved in visiting, volunteering and transforming local spaces to create pleasant and wildlife-friendly habitats which can be enjoyed for years to come.

Places targeted in the campaign will include parks, school areas, workplace grounds, riverbanks and coastal regions, cemeteries and nature reserves. One of the project partners, Big Lottery Fund, has offered specialist small grants for the improvement of ‘breathing places’, which will receive funding from the beginning of May 2007.

The comprehensive mini-website can help you find out about the visiting and volunteering opportunities at ‘breathing places’ near you, as well as offering free advice for community groups on how to transform local spaces.

Aikido was founded by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), who gained the skill to control many attackers at will. He was unique in his ability to express his understanding of universal principles and laws of nature. He was also a very spiritual person who spent years in study, prayer and contemplation.

An excellent way to 'experience' harmony and balance in our lives is to practise the martial art of Aikido. This is an art of Peace that develops in us an acute awareness of our surrounding environment, the ability to be calm, focused, relaxed and centred. Millions of practitioners around the World experience the positive benefits of Aikido - The Way of Harmony

These days where so much is published on the subjects of nutrition, diets, and ways of improving health, it seems strange that the subject of the spiritual effects of food should be completely overlooked.

Before humans knew of the chemical nature of food and its effects on the physical body, they were more aware of the spiritual properties of food, and the effects on the personality and emotions.

Today it has been retained almost completely in the private teachings of various mystery schools as a subject for limited discussion amoung those of the inner circle. Perhaps due to the fact that very few people fully understand the real purpose of foods.

The popular idea is that food is eaten only to maintain the chemical and physical constitution of the body and to provide energy. It is viewed purely as physical sustenance in its chemical aspect.

We must realise that humans are more than a mere physical body, and composed of more than purely chemical elements, and that life and consciousness are not completely dependent on the chemical elements of food.

We know that humankind are a very complex creation that have two divisions manifesting in their being.

1) The physio-chemical constitution.

2) The spiritual-conscious nature.

In the oldest of the secret or sacred writings regarding the nature of mankind's personality and character, there are references to the fact that the physical body is a necessary instrument or machine used to carry out the spiritual qualities in man's being.

The tone of the voice, the look in the eyes, the creation of tenderness, sympathy, understanding, joy, happiness, sorrow... are all part of the personality of spirit projected through the body and mind.

We here of personal magnetism or people with a strong magnetic personality. This is the result of the spiritual qualities within coming out through a healthy body. A body that is sickly, diseased, in pain, or abnormal cannot project a magnetic personality that captivates others.

We sometimes meet people who seem to radiate an attitude of joy, happiness, good health, optimism, love and sympathy. They make many friends easily and attract to themselves all the best experiences in life. People love to do things for them, love to have them around, and look upon them as leaders in life.

If the body is not healthy we cannot build a positive character that reveals its best qualities. Character is not something that is made from chemical elements or nutrients, but from spirit.

Weaknesses of character always develop in those who are in poor health and badly effected by the glands of the body. Science has discovered that character and personality are attributes of the inner part of the body and mind. These have a greater bearing on our happiness and success in life. A strong character and personality attracts positive attention.

500 Years of Health Secrets

Throughout the human there are glands that regulate the growth and development of the physical body, and the spiritual qualities of personality and character of the individual. These glands are all connected to the spiritual side of life.

Some scientists claim that each one of us in our individual expressions and distinctive characters, are just an expression of the state of the functioning of our glands. So it is essential that all the glands are working properly in order to be truly healthy and express our power through the physical body.

There are many emotional centres within the body, and most are connected with the glands and the psychic centres (chakras) of the nervous and sympathetic nervous system.

The relation between the glands, brain, the spinal nervous system, the sympathetic nervous system, and the emotions or psychic centres is definite and complex. This means that only those who have specialised in the subject can give the best advice or best explanation.

Emotionally, we are exactly what our glands and psychic centres are manifesting in their reactions. Not only is the physical health affected by our glands functioning poorly, but also aspects of our mental health.

Spells of depression, despondency, strange nervous conditions that are annoying, painful, distressing, and many forms of mental disturbance and abnormality result from the relationship between the glands and the psychic energy centres (chakras).

These nervous and mental conditions produce emotional and psychological effects that are are to do with... peaceful living, success in business, attractiveness in social life, and the enjoyment of all the divine blessings we can experience during our lifetime.

The spiritual energy flows through the body and mind via the energy centres and glands. If it flows freely we will experience a successful and full life with a magnetic personality. If it is blocked then we may have problems that effect our health, as described above.

The spiritual side of our nature is the leader that pushes us on to greater levels of being, taking us away from the physical and animal side of our nature. The great inventors, artists, writers, philosophers and thinkers have received their impulses of truth through their spiritual nature.

Human's entire environment in life from the primitive stages up to this very day have been improved because of the spiritual side of their nature and not because of the physical side.

When we analyse our source of spirituality we find that there are two main ways spirit energy enters the body. One is through the air we breathe, with its power coming from the source of all energy, the Sun. The other is through the quality of the food we eat and the water we drink.

Green Power Superfoods

Harmony of Mind-Body-Spirit at the Aikido Health Centre

In all 'civilised' lands the tendency is to alter nature's products before we eat them, this is a big mistake. Nature supplies food for us in its purest state, and this is the best way of using it for optimum health.

In the preparation and cooking of food so much of the better parts are thrown away. It is not necessary to only eat raw foods and not good to only eat cooked foods. A balance of the two is the best way.

According to the ancient mystics who preserved their ideas in the sacred, secret writings of the mystery schools... all living vegetable and fruit are filled with a spiritual essence which the leaves and stems have received from the sun and the moisture in the air.

This essence holds a vital energy that is necessary to the spiritual and physical side of our lives. There are many herbal extracts available that have held this vital life force in and are of great benefit to humankind.

The real cause of illness and disease lies in an imbalance of the blood cells, that weakens the nerve energy, and stops the glands from functioning correctly. The proper energy supply for the blood can be supplied in three ways...

1) Through deep breathing of fresh air.

2) Through eating natural organic food.

3) Through drinking plenty of pure water.

Chlorophyll is the strange semi-chemical and spiritual essence in plants that gives leaves their green colour. It has something in it that is not just chemical. This supplies us with vitality and energy and is a part of the divine essence available to us.

Certain rays of the sun, necessary for the spiritual essence in life, can only be taken into the body through eating chlorophyll and no-where else. So to eat more green-leafy foods will improve our health and well-being.

Science has shown that green leafy vegetables contain a high level of essential nutrients. Vitamins and minerals along with the chlorophyll spiritual essence. The popular term 'Eat Your Greens' is top level advice. Of course if you eat many of them organic and raw, then you are sure to receive the best qualities.

Many of these greens are available as organic and living foods, that come in powder form. These are excellent supplements to ensure you are absorbing the recommended nutrients to experience glowing health.

In summary, we see that proper breathing, along with exercise that causes deep breathing, wholesome liquids, and vital foods are essential to life. For a strong healthy body there should be a greater use of vegetables and fruit, especially green-leafy veg with a reduced amount of meat.

Watercress, dandelion, celery, green lettuce, green peas, green beans, onions used raw and added to your diet will give you more vitality and energy, vitamins, minerals and spirit essence.

In order to be sure you are absorbing nutrients, it is essential to take a good quality Multi-vitamin/mineral supplement on a daily basis. I highly recommend and use Maximol Solutions, a liquid formula of essential nutrients in an absorbable form... Neways to Health and Well-Being
