In this issue we spotlight Arun Aikido Club Projects... details below. Next month we discuss more important superfoods - stay tuned!

Arun Aikido Club

The Arun Aikido Club have been offering unique training in the art of Aikido since 1992. Our instructors are highly qualified, hold professional liability insurance, are CRB/DBS checked, and first aid certified.

We offer aikido classes, self defence seminars, and private lessons in West Sussex UK. New students are most welcome to join us and train in a real family atmosphere with 3 generations of the Wilden family.

Plus... You can take your first aikido class at No Cost whatsoever :)

Even though the Arun Aikido Club are a small independant dojo, we also have a global reach. Through my Aikido Health Centre website, I have been able to share many key principles with people all over the world since 2002.

In this Issue of Harmony of Mind-Body-Spirit, we will discuss some of the unique projects we are currently involved with.

For example, in May 2017 we took part in the Bognor Regis Carnival, where dozens of local groups parade through the town and seafront. Its usually a lot of fun, especially when the sun is shining, because there are 100's of happy faces along the the route.

A couple of years ago, the bognor carnival committee thought it would be a good idea to introduce themes, and now we have a different theme each year. Some of these themes are quite difficult to integrate into a disciplined japanese martial art, but our members are always keen to get involved.

A couple of years ago we had to blend in with a pirate theme. Imagine us in martial arts uniforms with cutlasses, eye patches, parrots, and gold coins... but we managed it, and it was hilarious :)

Next year for 2018 they have chosen west end musicals... that will be amusing! If you have any suggestions on how we can blend aikido with a musical please help... Click Here With Your Ideas.

Arun Aikido Club
Future Projects

On Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th August the Arun Aikido Club are taking part in the Hotham Park Country Fair. This takes place every year in Bognor Regis, West Sussex UK and is visited by thousands of people.

It gives us an opportunity to promote Aikido to the local community. Hotham Park is near to Butlins holiday camp and the seafront.

We'll have a gazebo & stall to meet the public, discuss aikido, answer their questions, and offer them places on our upcoming events. We will give an aikido demonstration on Sunday at 11am in the main arena.

On Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th August the Arun Aikido Club are performing an Aikido demonstration at the Bognor Regis Birdman Rally.

A unique event where people design make-shift aeroplanes that they wear like a suit. Then they jump off the pier into the sea and attempt to fly. The furthest flight wins a prize, but most just plummet straight into the sea :)

It an unusual event that is visited by thousands of people... a great chance to promote the art of aikido and our local club.

On 21st September we are hosting our Aiki Peace Week Seminar. In 2001, the United Nations declared September 21st as an International Day of Peace. On that day, every year, there are ceasefires in hundreds of conflicts around the world. Many organizations celebrate that day with thousands of peace day events, benefit concerts to focus on love, peace and harmony.

International Aiki Peace Week allows members of the Aikido community to take part in the global celebration of peace, and offer Morihei Ueshiba's remarkable vision to the world. A week of peace-focused teaching is offered as many Aikido associations, organisations do not have classes every day, and may not be able to put on an event on September 21st.

This gives us, at the Arun Aikido Club, a unique opportunity to increase public awareness of Aikido as a joyful practice of harmony, compassion, and non-violence. We offer a unique 3 hour seminar to the community that teach aiki principles to manage conflict and prevent violence.

On Sunday 1st October I am teaching a Self Defence Seminar. I offer these special seminars 2 or 3 times a year to help you Protect Yourself fast, without having to study a martial art for years.

We cover a variety of useful skills including... correct mindset, how to deal with verbal conflict, how to protect your space, trigger points that tell you when to take action, exactly what action to take, 6 key moves to take control fast, how to double your striking power, how to use an attackers strength against them, the most effective pressure points, and so much more!

On 30th November 2017 we are holding an Arun Aikido Club Grading where our students test themselves and attempt to move up to the next level of skill... plus new colour belt :)

They have to push themselves to be selected for these rare events. We only grade students who are ready and willing to pressure-test their skills.
