Latest Update


The Arun Aikido Club have been offering aikido to the community since 1992. Over the years we have given dozens of lectures, demonstrations, seminars, and thousands of classes on the south coast UK.


In the last 30 years we have only had two breaks in training...


1 - In 2007, after 15 years of weekly classes, student numbers diminished to such a low level that Sensei Tony decided to close the club.


He took the opportunity to focus more on personal training. And in 2010, after an intense study of pressure points, he received his certification and qualified as a pressure point self defence instructor.


Also in 2010, Tony reopened the Arun Aikido Club to offer junior and adult classes, self defence seminars and private lessons. Sensei Robin Wilden headed the adult classes and Sensei Natasha Hadwick the junior classes.


2 - In March 2020, our classes were suspended due to government guidelines for the 'pandemic'. After several lockdowns, it appears that society is beginning to get back to normal.


Arun Aikido Instructors have had several lengthy discussions about the near and distant future of the club. We have decided that it is highly likely that there will be further lockdowns and restrictions.


So we will not be offering weekly classes again this year. Instead we will offer several 2 hour Aikido Seminars, and Self Defence Seminars.


Stay tuned... as the exact dates for these have yet to be decided.


We apologise to students that we cannot offer regular weekly classes. By joining us at monthly seminars, you'll have the opportunity to catch up with previous aikido colleagues, and refresh your knowledge of aikido.


Sensei Tony has completed his COVID compliance certification from NAKMAS, our national governing body, so you will be in safe hands. All the necessary protection requirements will be observed.


If you feel that you cannot rejoin us on this unique aikido journey, we can put you in touch with clubs that hold weekly classes.


Look out for our update on the exact dates and times for our seminars.


Please Note: our first aikido seminar will include certificate awards for honorary gradings taken back in March 2020. If you have been notified of your promotion, and wish to receive your certificate, then you should contact us to confirm that you will attend.


We would also like to extend an invitation to people who have not practised aikido before. You can join us at one of our Aikido Seminars
