Here we feature a series of Local and World Community News
that may be of interest to our subscribers...

• UK sales of Fairtrade products are running at £300m per year

• TV presenter Gail Porter visits coffee producers in Uganda

• 2,500 retail and catering product lines now carry the FAIRTRADE Mark

• The number of towns, cities and villages awarded Fairtrade status
set to reach 250

• 368 producer groups are now selling to the UK Fairtrade market

The Fairtrade Foundation believes that 2007 will be the year when people define themselves by their attitude to fairness in society. We expect a surge of support for real values, such as those enshrined in Fairtrade, which will create a momentum allowing significant change.

Change Today. Choose Fairtrade, the theme is an urgent call to individuals, community groups, schools, universities and faith networks to scale up their own activity as part of the Fairtrade Foundation’s vision of an even bigger movement for positive change on trade.

This is a challenge to consumers to see the regular purchasing of Fairtrade products as a long-term contribution to tackling poverty - so that people in developing countries can also bring about the changes they want and need in their lives and communities.

The Foundation’s message is also a challenge to governments, business and public institutions to implement their own changes in sourcing and procurement, taking the lead from ordinary consumers who have driven Fairtrade to where it is today with one in two people now saying they recognise the FAIRTRADE Mark.

The Fairtrade Foundation is an independent certification body that awards the FAIRTRADE Mark to products which meet international Fairtrade standards set by FLO (Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International). Currently FLO spans almost 80 countries, working with 580 producer partners from 58 countries and across 21 Fairtrade markets in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Japan.

Five million people - farmers, workers and their families - benefit from the international Fairtrade system and FLO aims to continually increase the number of producer groups registered to supply the international Fairtrade market. For example, the number of African Fairtrade certified organisations rose to 42 from 12 countries in 2002 to 164 organisations from 23 countries by the end of 2006 – an increase of 290%.

The full range of Fairtrade products is: coffee, tea, chocolate, cocoa, sugar, bananas, pineapples, mangoes, oranges, satsumas, clementines, lemons, avocados, lychees, grapes, apples, pears, plums, fruit juices, smoothies, quinoa, peppers, green beans, coconuts, dried fruit (apricots, mango, raisins, dates), herbal teas, rooibos tea, green tea, ice-cream, cakes, biscuits, honey, muesli, cereal bars, jams, chutney, sauces, herbs, spices (vanilla pods, cinnamon sticks, ground ginger, ground turmeric, black pepper, cloves, nutmeg), nuts (brazils, cashews, peanuts), nut oil, wine, beer, rum, rice, yoghurt, baby food, flowers, sportsballs, sugar body scrub, cotton wool and other cotton products.

Words vibrate a powerful energy that influences you and all around you. Your choice of words says a lot about you and whether or not you will achieve your goals in life. The power of language can make it possible.

Just as colors and numbers can be associated with a vibrational frequency, so can sounds and words. Every letter of the alphabet can be associated with a number and every number (and every colour) can be associated with a musical note.

When letters are strung together to form a specific sound or word, the word is "charged" in a sense, with a specific frequency that is more than the sum of its parts, and that word influences all who think, read, speak or hear it. Words are even further charged with power as humans attach certain emotions and intentions.

The bible says "In the beginning was the word", inferring that the universe, all of God's creation was created from some spoken expression, a Godly sound. So what kind of Godly sounds are you creating day by day, affirming your personal happiness.

When you recognize the power of language, you will see an opportunity to change your life. Notice any negative vibrations in the language you use. How deeply ingrained in language are your fears and anxieties about life.

Work on noticing all the negative inner chatter "you're too fat, too slow, too stupid, too late" all of us are guilty of a long list of inner criticisms. Unfortunately, all that inner chatter weakens us in a very real sense.

Our negative language takes us down, lowers our frequency, makes the possible impossible. It speaks to your fears and all the reasons why you may hold yourself back, and ways you sabotage yourself.

The more you listen to the words you use about yourself and your world, the more you will see why you may have drawn so much pain into your life... and the more powerful you begin to feel!

A lesson to learn on your spiritual journey is to change your language... to start introducing "loving language" to your vocabulary.

This means that you have to learn to actively listen to yourself AND others, to acknowledge the fears that negative language represents, and then to actively shift the energy by reframing the words into affirming, loving language.

Here are some examples of our negative, unloving, low vibration language, and some ways of reframing these statements or changing the words to bring the vibration up so it attracts more of what you want in life.

No, Not, UN, DIS... There are times when NO is the right answer, and NOT helps define a clear boundary, so there's no reason to try to eradicate these words from your vocabulary. However, there is a real need for us each to notice how often and when we are using these words - and to understand their effect on the subconscious.

The subconscious doesn't register qualifying, descriptive language, so when you say I'm not going... the subconscious registers, I'm going... ever wonder why you ended up at that party you definitely had no intention of going to?

The more often you said no and not around that event, the more you affirmed the likelihood that you would go... that's how our kids ‘wear us down". So, instead of saying "I'm not going", say " I have something else to do that evening." It's a safer way of saying "no".

The same logic applies to the use of "un" and "dis" words... the subconscious hears the active part of the word and therefore nullifies to a large extent the statement you make... When you say you're "unhappy", or you "dislike" the inner you registers that you're happy and you like... goodness, it's no wonder so many of us are so conflicted!

We humans have been conditioned to overlook our personal wants in favour of the group desires, and hide our true selves in a sense behind the greater good. As time passes, most folks lose sight of what they really want, think or feel... they might be able to name the next car, house, book, dress, or computer upgrade that they want, but they won't be able to speak in specific terms about what they want for themselves in life.

Most of us simply can't find the words to express our deepest needs and desires. A lot of relationships break down because the partners cannot specify their needs or are afraid to be blunt about what works for them.

We hold all of these unspoken expectations of each other all around us, and then we wonder why we can't get at what we want in life. Even God or spirit wants to know what you need and want.

This concept of being specific applies to all we say, think and feel. It is only through the use of clear, specific language that we can create change. For example, when you say "I don't like you", you leave me no room to negotiate or change your opinion... but if you say I don't like your writing style, then I have something to work with.

I can decide that pleasing you is worth taking a writing class, or I can decide that it's not important to please you on this specific issue. What's more important, by being specific about what you don't like, you affirm the possibility of change, without destroying my self-esteem.

A lack of bluntness in your language attracts a lot of static to your communications lines. General, uncommitted language hides the conflicts, the unresolved issues. These conflicts act like static on the line, making it difficult for people to hear you clearly.

If words have vibrational frequency, and the higher frequencies attract good stuff to you, then it makes sense to opt for using clear specific language. How else can you clearly and specifically direct the flow of energy around you to create exactly what you want?

Spells and curses, blessings and invocations are ways of invoking the power of words, and all who teach the ceremonial use of language will teach also the need to be exceptionally clear and specific in any incantation, chant or prayer.

We invoke the real power of language when we are clear and concise in our choice of words. The more specific you are with the words you use, the more clearly focused is the energy, the root of every success.

So, the next time someone asks you what you want, take some time, to think about your answer and then respond with a clear specific statement... like "I want £10,000 in my bank account within 6 months."

Invoke the power of loving language in your life and then stand back to enjoy the magic that ensues. Words have power, and loving words have the power to make life magical, so go for it, it may turn out to be the most significant change you ever make in your life!

Kotodama - Words of Power

How many words do you say aloud every single day?
Ten thousand... A hundred thousand... More?

And how many words do you say to yourself when you are talking to yourself – your conscious mind chatters on almost continuously asking questions, chattering idly, commenting on everything that is happening, worrying, and so on.

What most people don’t realise is the effect these words have on you. There is a secret language behind the words that you use – the connotations or implied meanings of these words.

Every word has a dictionary definition telling you what it means. However, every word also has an implied meaning – the hidden power behind the word.

A word like “try”, for example, means to 'give it a go' in the dictionary, but its connotation implies failure. The word “should” implies obligation and reluctance. The word “but” negates everything before it and causes the listener to only focus on what comes after the but.

Now, if you can understand these implied meanings of words, then you can start to use them in your every day life. If you can do this, it will give you the power to influence other people and to get them to work with you instead of against you.

A good example is if you were a manager and you had to criticise an employee for something they had done. Most people would say...
“Yeah John, you did a great job, but you really messed up”.

Because of the word 'but' in the sentence John’s mind erases the “you did a great job” part and only remembers “you really messed up”. And as you can imagine, this doesn’t motivate John or make him feel very good.

Instead, if you were to say, “John, you messed up that time, but you’ve always done a good job” it will make John feel much better. The “you messed up that time” part of the sentence is erased by the but and leaves behind “you’ve always done a good job”. This will make John a more motivated employee.

This is just one of the many ways that you can use language to influence people, there are many more techniques you can learn. Remember one thing, what goes around comes around – if you use these techniques to harm, then expect karma to come back and bite you.

Discover a master wordsmith's secret for turning everything you say into wealth, well-being and personal success.

An affirmation can be simply as uplifting as...
"I'm very happy at this moment!" or as determined as
"I'm willing to do whatever is necessary to succeed!"

Try it for yourself right now. Choose a positive message you want to tell yourself. Then stand up, look upwards, head back, throw your arms up, and shout it out loud. You've just discovered how powerful words can be. Unlimited Success & Wealth are All In the Words You Use.

What's is the single most important asset you and your business possess? It's not money and numbers. The true currency of business is WORDS. Communicating your ideas, your offer, the benefits of your product.

Unlimited success and wealth are as simple as using the right words. You can get everything you've ever wanted in life, simply by saying the right words -- because the words which you communicate determine the quality of your life. This is true communicating with others or yourself.

Words have the power to induce someone to laugh, to cry, to be kind, to be loving, to be cooperative, to buy, Or be unkind, angry, and irrational.

Whether words are written or spoken, they have enormous power. Of course, when words are spoken, the added factors of voice emphasis, emotion... all have the potential to cause even more impact. You can use Words to Achieve a Win-Win Situation

Here is what few business people seem to realize: People all over the world really want to help and accommodate their fellow humans. But they must be approached properly. Magic Words Can Bring You Riches.

The same words, strategies and techniques can be used to get the best results from everyday situations -- like hiring a Mercedes for the price of a Ford, slashing the cost of a first class hotel room, and buying valuable antiques at huge discounts -- can work magic for your business, too.

Here are three magic power-word phrases...

Magic Phrase one to Attract the Money You Need to start a business venture. The magic words here are 'sophisticated investor'.

Every successful professional - such as a doctor or lawyer, likes to think of himself or herself as sophisticated. And you can often attract these people to invest in your business.

Run an ad in your local paper, high-lighting those two key words.

Other magic phrases to include are "Local business person with excellent track record and reputable history"; "start-up business opportunity, limited investment, high potential return"; and "references available."

Magic Phrase two to Receive Free Expert Help for your business. Simply announce you have a business problem and need expert assistance, either to a local business group (such as the Chamber of Commerce, which you have in practically every town) or putting an advertisement in the business section of your local newspaper.

You may be absolutely delighted with the quality of assistance provided to you by retired executives. Seek them out in your local area, and you could benefit from this great source of experienced know-how, too.

Magic Phrase three to Get Capable People to Work for Free. Your magic words here are "piece of the action". Instead of paying a fixed salary, run ads offering people one of these options...

Hourly rate for services rendered, Percentage of sales, Percentage of profits, Royalty on sales, Percentage of savings, Fixed payment for each unit made.

Anyone with a strong entrepreneurial instinct will be attracted by such an approach. It means there will be no limit on their income, they will be more independent, they can set their own hours -- and the harder they work, the more they earn. This is just the type of person you should employ.

Assume The Other Person Has Already Said "Yes" Ask questions which assume the end result you seek. This is especially true when you are speaking to yourself. As I said earlier, use affirmations every day... standing up, looking to the sky, throwing your hands in the air, and shouting out a positive message you need to tell yourself.

Yes, you may feel ridiculous when you do this, but that discomfort is just the push you need to change your emotional state. The magic words in your affirmations will give you the energy and determination you need to produce your very best work.
